A trim tummy is good for many things like fitting into a favorite pair of jeans or feeling more confident in your appearance. But an even more important reason to lose belly fat is to improve your overall health and reduce the risk for heart disease, diabetes and some cancers.

Join Riverwood Healthcare for a lunch and learn program called “Belly Fat: Hormonal Balance and Calorie Expenditure” on Tues., Dec. 9, 12 to 1 p.m. at the Butler Building in Aitkin.

Hear from Dan Schletty, Riverwood’s health and wellness coach, on how the body uses and stores fat and the role hormones play with differences for men and women. Exercise, managing stress and the types of calories consumed are other contributing factors to belly fat that will be covered in the presentation.

With a free light lunch being served, registration is required. To RSVP call Riverwood’s events line at (218) 927-5188 or email healthyliving@riverwoodhealthcare.org
