Palliative Care &
Hospice

caring for you with respect, comfort and dignity

Traditional palliative care can be given at any time during the course of an illness. It can help with relief from symptoms and improve a patient’s ability to tolerate medical treatments. Palliative care can help the patient and family carry on with everyday life.

Hospice care is appropriate when there is a life expectancy of six months or less. When curative treatments are no longer working and/or a patient no longer desires to continue them, hospice becomes the care of choice. The goal of hospice care is to alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life.

For either palliative care or hospice care, you have choices for help with activities of daily living and maintaining your independence. See the resource directory links below for Aitkin, Crow Wing, Itasca and Mille Lacs county areas.
