Wellness: Challenge yourself with 5Ks

Do you need a goal to keep you motivated to stay physically fit? Consider challenging yourself to participate in area 5K runs or walks. The “K” in 5K stands for kilometer, which is the equivalent of 0.62 miles—3.1 miles for a 5K race.

Four upcoming 5Ks in Aitkin, Brainerd, Garrison and McGregor—all on Saturdays—include:

1) May 24, 9 am:  Aitkin Fit City 5K Run, Walk or Stroll, Rippleside Elementary, Aitkin (register on site @ 8 am)

2) June 28, 8:45 am: Susan G. Komen Brainerd Lakes Race for the Cure, Forestview Middle School, Baxter To register, go to www.komenbrainerdlakes.org and click on Brainerd Lakes Race for the Cure Registration, then “online registration”.  Select “Join a Team” and choose “Breast Health Alliance Team Riverwood.” Or contact Amy Renner, 218-429-3975 or arenner@riverwoodhealthcare.org

3) July 26, 8 am:  Garrison Play Days 5K Run/Walk, Garrison (Fire Hall, register @ event)

4) Aug. 30, 8 am: Wild Rice Days 5K Run/Walk, McGregor (Dairy Queen, register @ event)
