Cummings family donates electric wheelchair

Electric WC_2The Bill and Patsy Cummings family of Aitkin has donated a deluxe electric wheelchair to Riverwood Healthcare Center.

The wheelchair is available for patients or visitors with mobility difficulties to use to navigate the clinic or hospital hallways. The wheelchair, which can be accessed at the main entrance and checked out at the front reception desk, is run by using a lever that moves it forward or backward.

“My husband, Bill, understood how difficult it is to get around when health issues arise,” said Patsy Cummings. ”Our family felt that donating a motorized wheelchair would be a wonderful way to honor him and provide the community with something useful to help others visiting the clinic or hospital.”

Jodie Johnson, Riverwood Foundation director, adds:  “On behalf of Riverwood, we sincerely thank the Cummings family for this generous gift that will help many individuals have an easier time visiting loved ones or accessing medical care at our facility. We’re happy to meet with prospective donors any time to discuss gifts that can enhance our local health care.”
