Riverwood Healthcare Center and the Beanery Café & Roastery in downtown Aitkin are partnering to present a series of monthly meetups on women’s health and wellness.
The first meetup is “Nurture and Nourish,” on Thurs., Oct. 24, 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the Beanery. Hear from Dr. Jennifer Tessmer-Tuck, obstetrician and gynecologist at Riverwood Healthcare Center, on common women’s health issues and concerns. Then learn how to make Pico de Gallo, a fresh Mexican salsa, with Erik Heimark and Jay Rigdon of Maple Ridge Produce, who will share their abundant and beautiful tomato harvest.
“Our goal is to provide a casual forum for women to gather and get brief information about health issues and have fun learning how to pursue hobbies or other interests too,” said Amanda Lowe, owner of the Beanery Café & Roastery. “As we head into fall and colder weather, gathering together has social and wellness benefits. Women need time to recharge, learn and flourish together. This meetup series is a perfect opportunity to do just that.”
A light meal will be served at no charge. Wine and coffee drinks will be available for purchase. Registration is requested by Oct. 21. To RSVP, email healthyliving@rwhealth.org or call Riverwood at 218-927-2611.
Future meetups will be held at the Beanery on Thursday evenings, 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., on Nov. 21, Jan. 23, Feb. 20, March 20 and April 17.
