An enthusiastic crew of Riverwood Healthcare Center food service workers, led by a committee of Carmen Johnson, Nicole Eklund and Tara Dandrea, found a way to brighten the Thanksgiving holiday for those in need. They solicited donations of cash and food from Riverwood’s staff to put together 24 bags with a turkey and all the fixings for a Thanksgiving meal to donate to the food shelf at First Lutheran Church in Aitkin.
On November 21, the meals were distributed to 24 local families who use First Lutheran’s food shelf. In addition, Riverwood gave a $50 donation plus a box of miscellaneous food items to the food shelf.
