Riverwood Healthcare Center is pleased to introduce Nurse Practitioner Kya Henningson, who has joined the medical staff for its Same Day Clinic in Aitkin.
Previously, Henningson worked as a nurse practitioner at Essentia Health’s urgent care center in Moose Lake. She has also worked as a registered nurse for the orthopaedic spine center at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby and Twin Cities Spine Center.
In describing her personal approach to medical care, Henningson comments, “To provide health care for the community I call home treating each patient with the empathy and dedication I would extend to my own family.”
Henningson completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at the University of Minnesota, Mankato. She went on to attend Spring Arbor University in Michigan to earn a master’s degree in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner and a post-master’s certificate for Psychology/Nurse Practitioner.
Henningson and her husband, Cory, have two young sons, Logan and Lincoln. Their household includes two Yorkies and a red Lab. The family enjoys camping, fishing, music concerts and lots of fun activities in the lakes area.
When a person needs medical care right away but it’s not an emergency, Riverwood’s Same Day Clinic is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., in Aitkin, except for major holidays. Walk in for a face-to-face visit or call 218-927-2157 to inquire about appointment availability. Virtual video visits are also available.
