Riverwood Healthcare Center has added a new service to the wide range of specialty care it offers in Aitkin. Beginning in September, dermatology care will be available at Riverwood’s specialty clinic in Aitkin on the first Tuesday of the month from Dermatology Professionals based in Baxter.
Services offered will include skin exams, UV light therapy, mole removal, acne treatment, psoriasis treatment, eczema treatment, wart treatment, skin cancer surgery, as well as evaluation and treatment of any skin condition.
“We are pleased to welcome an experienced group of dermatology providers to our community,” says Dr. Mark Heggem, Riverwood’s chief medical officer. “We are now able to offer access to vital skin care services closer to home for our patients, including a new skin cancer screening clinic on November 5th .”
The Dermatology Professionals practice is led by Paul Lundstrom, MD, a board-certified dermatologist who treats patients of all ages with psoriasis, eczema, skin cancer, acne and any other skin condition. He completed medical school and obtained his doctoral degree from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine in Grand Forks, ND. His post-graduate medical training includes one transitional year at the Marshfield Clinic and a three-year dermatology residency at the University of Minnesota. He obtained a bachelor’s degree from Concordia College. A native of Fargo, he now resides in Nisswa with his wife, Sandy and their four children. He enjoys spending time with his family and all things outdoors.
Three additional dermatology providers—a dermatologist, a dermatology physician assistant and a dermatology certified nurse practitioner—will also see patients in Aitkin.
Kristina Britton, MD, is a board-eligible dermatologist who treats patients of all ages with a wide variety of skin, hair and nail conditions. She obtained a bachelor’s degree from St. Cloud State University and completed medical school and obtained her doctoral degree from the University of Minnesota School of Medicine. Her post-graduate medical training includes one transitional year at Hennepin County Medical Center and a three-year dermatology residency at the Marshfield Clinic/St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, WI. Dr. Britton is a native of Brainerd and is excited to return to the lakes area with her husband, Roger, and their two boys. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Nicole Manecke, PA-C, is a certified dermatology physician assistant who treats patients of all ages with psoriasis, eczema, skin cancer, acne and any other skin condition. She obtained a bachelor’s degree from Bemidji State University and completed her master of science degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Rosalind D. Franklin University. She has practiced as a dermatology physician assistant since graduating in 2002. She grew up in Bemidji and now resides in East Gull Lake with her husband, Paul, and their three children. She enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors and reading.
Becky White, DCNP, is a dermatology certified nurse practitioner who treats patients of all ages with psoriasis, eczema, skin cancer, acne and any other skin condition. She obtained a bachelor’s degree from Jamestown College. She completed her master of science degree in Nursing at North Dakota State University. In 2006, Becky started working as a dermatology nurse practitioner in Minneapolis. She grew up in Jamestown, ND, and now resides in Baxter with her husband, Mikkey, and their two daughters. She enjoys being anywhere outdoors, rain or shine.
Dr. Lundstrom comments: “For the past 16 years it has been my privilege to play a role in serving individuals’ health care needs. I daily devote myself to doing the best I can for each person, taking care of them as I would want to be treated.”

Skin cancer screening opportunity
In partnership with Dermatology Professionals, Riverwood will host a free skin cancer screening clinic in Aitkin on Tues., Nov. 5, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. There will be a limited number of short appointments available with any follow-up treatment scheduled at a later appointment.
