Did you know eight out of 10 adults have a chronic health condition such as hypertension (high blood pressure), arthritis, lung disease, diabetes, depression or anxiety? Managing a chronic condition can improve health and quality of life.
Riverwood Healthcare Center is offering a class called “Living Well with Chronic Conditions” in Aitkin. The class will meet on six Thursdays, 2:00 to 4:30 p.m., Sept. 12, 19 and 26 and Oct. 3, 10 and 17, at the Aitkin hospital in Room G in the Michael Ryan Support Services wing.
Learn about healthy eating, managing pain and emotions, getting good sleep and physical activity, communicating with medical providers, medications and more. Participants in this six-week class make weekly action plans, share experiences and help each other solve problems as they carry out their plans.
Class instructors are Licensed Practical Nurses Annette Beaufeaux and Sara Rian, both of whom work in Riverwood’s Aitkin clinic.
While those with chronic health conditions are urged to attend this class, anyone interested in improving his or her health may attend.
There is a $20 fee for the “Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions” workbook. Those who complete all six classes will receive $20 in Aitkin Bucks.
