Joselito Burgos, MD, Internal Medicine

Jen Burgos, Family Nurse Practitioner

Riverwood Healthcare Center is hosting “Cheers to Healthy Rears” on Tues., Oct 2, at the Beanery in Aitkin. Learn about colon cancer prevention and screening with a unique blend of education and entertainment.

Two Riverwood providers, Dr. Joselito Burgos and Nurse Practitioner Jen Burgos, will offer information on colon cancer prevention, including when screening should start and the options available.

The evening’s entertainment will include the Beanery coordinating beer tasting of samples from local brewers, plus a preview tour of the new Block North Brew Pub in downtown Aitkin, which will open in later Fall 2018. Beer sampling will be limited to those 21 years or older.

Pete Borchers, Twin Cities area comedian, will perform for about a half hour. He has performed all across Minnesota and Wisconsin and is the winner of both the Jeff Gerbino Clean Comedy Contest and the Laff with Louie Anderson contest. He has been heard on WCCO and KQRS and performed on Twin Cities Live.

“We know this is a topic people don’t like to think about so we’re making it a fun evening of entertainment as well,” said Jan Hegman, Riverwood oncology care coordinator and nurse practitioner. “One in three adults 50 years or older is still not getting screened for colon cancer as recommended. Riverwood is committed to improving screening rates for this preventable cancer.”
