Golf event to support kidney and dialysis care

Dr. Austin Krohn at 2018 golf charity event

Riverwood Healthcare Center and Foundation are hosting the annual Golf Charity Event on Fri., July 12, at Cuyuna Rolling Hills in Deerwood.  Access the golf event invitation flyer.

Proceeds from this year’s event will support Riverwood’s new Kidney Care & Dialysis Center, which is now under construction, at its hospital in Aitkin. CentraCare Health will operate the center, which will feature nine kidney dialysis patient bays and one isolation/procedure room. Dr. Ben Parker, CentraCare nephrologist, began seeing patients with kidney disease at our specialty clinic in 2017 and will oversee kidney patient care going forward.

Carved out of the Northern Minnesota woods, the Cuyuna Rolling Hills golf course requires an accurate driver, skill in handling the uneven uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies, and a first class game to master the challenging putting surfaces. The course is located at 24410 State Highway 210 in Deerwood.

The event will feature registration at 10 a.m., lunch at 11a.m. with a shotgun start for the tournament at 12 p.m. A light dinner will be served following the golf tournament.

“This is an opportunity to support a cause you care about while pursuing a sport you enjoy and socializing with friends,” says Katie Nelson, Riverwood Foundation Director. “We are pleased to fill a community need for bringing kidney care and dialysis closer to home for Aitkin County and area residents.”

The Foundation is still seeking event sponsors. For more information on sponsor opportunities or to register for the event, call (218) 927-8286 or email peklund-fisher@riverwoodhealthcare.org

For anyone who cannot attend the golf event, donations to support the dialysis center at Riverwood are welcome. Mail checks to Riverwood Foundation, 200 Bunker Hill Drive, Aitkin, MN 56431.
