The renovations at Riverwood Healthcare Center include new space for its diabetes education and wound care clinic services, which have been located in the outpatient services facility at 601 Bunker Hill Drive.
Beginning Mon., March 25, patients can access diabetes education and wound care services in a newly renovated space in the hospital, just around the corner from the patient check-in area and before the entrance to the cardiopulmonary department.
The phone numbers for both departments will remain the same. For questions on diabetes education, call (218) 927-8281. Nursing services at the wound clinic include wound care, ostomy care, continence care and diabetic foot care. For questions on any of these services, patients may call (218) 927-5543.
The only Riverwood service that will remain at the outpatient services facility is Riverwood’s diagnostic sleep study center.
“We are pleased to be on the home stretch for our expansion and renovations project,” says Michael Hagen, Riverwood CEO. “Renovations for the lobby areas are wrapping up by the end of March and in mid-April our kitchen and dining area renovations will be complete. We look forward to hosting an open house celebration the first week in June for community members to see all the facility enhancements. We will share more details on this event soon.”
Time, location change for support group
The Aitkin Diabetes support group meets on the second Thursday of the month and there will be a time and location change starting with the April 11 meeting. The group will begin meeting an hour earlier–from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.–at a Riverwood Healthcare Center conference room. The support group is open to diabetes patients and family members and includes informal information sharing, which is facilitated by Lisa Kuklis, registered dietitian, or Maureen Mau, certified diabetes educator.
