Riverwood Healthcare Center is pleased to announce that Dr. Sohaib Basharat of the Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute (MHI) has joined the cardiology provider team. He will begin seeing patients at Riverwood’s specialty clinic in Aitkin in October.
Specializing in cardiovascular and preventative cardiology, Dr. Basharat joins Dr. Peter Stokman and Dr. Tim Dirks, MHI cardiologists who have been offering care at Riverwood’s specialty clinic in Aitkin for many years.
Dr. Basharat received his medical degree from Allama Iqbal Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Penn. Earlier this year, he completed his Cardiovascular Disease fellowship at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, Calif.
Dr. Basharat is board certified in internal medicine, and board eligible in cardiovascular disease. His professional interests include preventative cardiology, lipid management, cardiovascular imaging, echocardiography, and coronary CT angiography.
He describes his medical practice philosophy as “treating patients with respect and dignity and developing collaborative relationships with my patients and empowering them in their health care journey.”
Dr. Basharat lives in Baxter with his wife and daughter.
