Christopher Hughes and Nicole Phillips, Riverwood Healthcare Center employees, are this year’s recipients of Riverwood Foundation’s Michael Zilverberg Healthcare Education Scholarship.

Hughes is a medical student at University of Minnesota, Duluth, on track to become a physician. Phillips is pursuing a registered nurse degree at Central Lakes College in Brainerd. Both of them work as nursing assistants for Riverwood’s hospital.

Each has received an award of $2,000 to support their pursuit of advanced medical education. Hughes and Phillips were selected by Riverwood Foundation’s Finance and Granting Committee based on a written application detailing their experience and achievements in the medical field, and a narrative describing what they want to accomplish as a result of their education.

The Michael Zilverberg Endowment assures that scholarship funds will be available to support advanced education for those in the health care profession at Riverwood Healthcare Center indefinitely into the future.
