Your Care Options at Riverwood Healthcare

If you’re experiencing symptoms possibly related to COVID-19, another illness or an injury, where do you go? This is an important question, especially now in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. Whether you choose our same day clinic, primary care clinic or emergency room, each offers different treatment options as well as price points, which are important considerations when deciding where to go for your own symptoms or for someone you love.

We would like to offer these tips on how to access care through our various points of care at Riverwood Healthcare’s clinic and hospital.

 Virtual Care: Video Visit
At Riverwood Healthcare Center, we offer virtual video visits in addition to in-person clinic visits. You can do a video visit on your smartphone, iPad tablet or personal computer. All you need is an email address to get the link to sign in.

A virtual visit is a good option when weather conditions make it unsafe to travel. Instead of cancelling your clinic appointment, call to ask that it be changed to a video visit. Other examples for this care option are when you just need a quick conversation with your provider on your medications or to ask about mild illness symptoms such as for COVID-19. For a video visit appointment, call 218-927-2157.

In-person Primary Care Visit
Your primary care provider (PCP) is the preferred choice for preventive and routine care.  With a comprehensive team-based care approach, our primary care providers are able to continuously support your health and wellness needs. Whether planning ahead or seeking same day care, request an appointment with your PCP at one of our convenient clinic locations.

For an appointment at our Aitkin, Garrison or McGregor clinic, call our main appointments line at 218-927-2157 or toll-free at 888-270-1882.

Same Day Clinic
Whenever you have an injury or illness that needs immediate medical attention, but not emergency care, our Same Day Clinic is here for you. The Same Day Clinic at Riverwood’s Aitkin Clinic is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. You do not need to call for an appointment. Illnesses or injuries appropriate for same day care include allergies; nausea, diarrhea or constipation; infections (ear, sinus, respiratory, urinary tract, vaginal), cough or sore throat; simple cuts; animal bites; minor burns; rashes; or tick bites/removal.

Saturday Clinic
At our Aitkin clinic, we offer scheduled appointments from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays. This convenient care option supports working adults and parents, school-age kids, and others who have difficulty fitting a medical appointment into a busy weekday schedule.

We encourage scheduled appointments by calling 218-927-2157. Walk-in care is available for same day needs; however, slots are limited so please call ahead for availability. This clinic is staffed by a nurse practitioner from our Family Medicine practice staff.

Emergency Room
If you have a medical emergency, such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, head trauma or loss of vision, seek medical care immediately. Our Level III Trauma Center, which is staffed with highly skilled physicians and nurses, is here for you 24/7. It’s best to call 9-1-1 to get immediate medical assistance and the fastest transport to the hospital.

We make every effort to offer medical care that meets the needs of our patients. Thank you for choosing Riverwood for your care and/or for your family members!
