Riverwood Healthcare Center is proud to announce Teerza Misner, RN, as the latest recipient of its prestigious DAISY Award for nursing excellence.
The DAISY Award honors nurses who go above and beyond in delivering extraordinary care, as nominated by patients and their families. Riverwood participates in the national DAISY Foundation program, which celebrates the compassion, clinical skill, and deep connections nurses build with those they care for.
Misner was nominated by a hospital patient whose daughter-in-law shared these comments: “Teerza made my mother-in-law’s hospital stay a wonderful experience. She is very knowledgeable and helped get answers to our questions quickly. She was so caring for my mother-in-law and our entire family.”
Misner, who lives in Emily with her husband Gabe and their dog, has worked in healthcare for six years. She began her career at Riverwood as a nursing assistant and advanced to a registered nurse position in 2025 after earning her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Central Lakes College.
“What I enjoy most about being a nurse is being there for patients during some of their most difficult moments,” Misner said. “Often, it’s the small gestures that make the biggest impact during a hospital stay.”
Carla Zupko, Chief Nursing Officer at Riverwood, praised Misner’s dedication: “Teerza is one of our newest registered nurses and has already exemplified the exceptional care and dedication that define Riverwood. We are proud to have her as part of our nursing team.”
The DAISY Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in Glen Ellen, Calif. It was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 from complications of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), an autoimmune disease. The compassion and care shown by nurses during his illness inspired the creation of the DAISY Award as a lasting way to thank nurses for the meaningful difference they make in the lives of patients and families.
