Riverwood Welcomes Urologist Dr. Grant McCormick

Riverwood Healthcare Center is pleased to welcome Grant McCormick, MD, to its specialty clinic team. Dr. McCormick will begin seeing patients in Aitkin on September 28, further strengthening specialty urology services for patients throughout the region.

Dr. McCormick provides care for men and women with a wide range of urologic conditions. His clinical interests include urologic oncology, men’s health, prosthetic urology, urinary incontinence, and general urology. His addition enhances Riverwood’s specialty care offerings, allowing more patients to receive advanced evaluation, treatment, and surgical services within their local community.

“As the need for urologic services continues to grow across our region, Riverwood remains committed to ensuring patients have access to the specialized care they need,” said Riverwood CEO Ken Westman. “Dr. McCormick brings advanced clinical expertise, a strong surgical background, and a genuine passion for rural healthcare. His patient-centered approach aligns closely with Riverwood’s mission to provide high-quality, compassionate, personalized care, and we’re excited to welcome him to our team and the community.”

For Dr. McCormick, practicing in a rural community is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference while building lasting relationships with patients and families.

“Rural communities are often underserved when it comes to specialty surgical care, and I believe patients shouldn’t have to travel far from home to receive exceptional treatment,” said Dr. McCormick. “My goal is to provide advanced, personalized care while ensuring every patient feels heard, supported, and confident in their treatment plan. Achieving excellent surgical outcomes is important, but so is creating a positive experience for patients and their families throughout their care journey.”

Dr. McCormick earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha and completed his Urology Residency at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. He earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry with a minor in mathematics from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is a member of the American Urological Association.

Outside of medicine, Dr. McCormick enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, Elizabeth, and their dogs. Together, they enjoy hiking and exploring the natural beauty of northern Minnesota. His other interests include mountain biking, golfing, fishing, hunting, and cheering on Minnesota sports teams.

“I’m excited to become part of this community,” Dr. McCormick said. “My wife and I have already enjoyed exploring the area, and we look forward to making northern Minnesota our home.”
