Riverwood appoints new quality manager, compliance officer

Riverwood Healthcare Center is pleased to announce that Corrine Nelson has been promoted to Quality Manager and Compliance Officer. In her manager role, Nelson will oversee infection control, patient safety, and medical staff credentialing. As compliance officer she will ensure the hospital operates within all applicable laws and regulations and also protect patient rights and data and help maintain the organization’s reputation.

Working with Riverwood for 11 years in the Quality department, Nelson has taken on progressively more responsibility as she served in the roles of assistant, coordinator and supervisor. She earned both her Bachelor of Arts degree and master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from the College of St. Scholastica. She has achieved certification in Healthcare Compliance and has a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, designed to help improve an organization’s efficiency and productivity.

Nelson comments on her work in the Quality department, “I love serving in this role in the community in which I was raised and continue to raise my children. I believe in creating a culture of continuous improvement that strives to build safe, reliable systems to allow our healthcare providers to provide the safest, high-quality patient experience possible.”

She adds, “I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities at Riverwood Healthcare Center for career development through continuing education and mentoring. I feel blessed to be able to help improve the quality and safety of patient care where my own family, friends, and loved ones come for medical care.”

Nelson lives in the McGregor community with her husband, Steven, and three children, Walter, Avery and Ailee. Away from work, she enjoys gardening, fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends.
