Terry Buisman, a seasoned physical therapist with Ortho Rehab Specialists in Minneapolis, presented a continuing education course on shoulder pathology and therapies at Riverwood Healthcare Center on March 1 and 2. The educational event, focused on shoulder pathology and therapies, was presented to seven therapy professionals, including two physical therapists from Riverwood.

During the course, Buisman provided an in-depth exploration of his whitepaper, titled “The Complex Pathological Adult Shoulder: Making Co-morbidities Manageable via the Refined Pathomechanical ‘SDC Model’.” The sessions covered topics such as initial evaluation, treatment day assessment, manual intervention, and therapeutic exercise progressions.

A proud graduate of Aitkin High School, class of 1980, Buisman maintains strong ties with the community, with some family members still residing in the area. His journey into specializing in physical therapy was fueled by a personal experience during college baseball, where inadequate care led him to wanting to address the need for better solutions. Subsequently, he pursued education at North Dakota State University and Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences and has been practicing physical therapy for the last 38 years.

The continuing education course not only served as a platform for knowledge exchange but also highlighted Buisman’s commitment to ongoing professional development within the field of physical therapy. His dedication to improving patient care and sharing expertise will allow local physical therapists to better serve our community.
