Riverwood Healthcare Center is pleased to announce that Nurse Practitioner Laura Biewer of the Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute (MHI) has joined the cardiology provider team.

Specializing in cardiovascular and preventative cardiology, Biewer will work closely on patient care with Dr. Peter Stokman and Dr. Tim Dirks, MHI cardiologists who have been offering care at Riverwood’s specialty clinic in Aitkin for many years.

Biewer’s education includes a Bachelor of Nursing degree from Concordia College and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice and Family Nurse Practitioner degree from The College of St. Scholastica.

With more than12 years of nursing experience in emergency medicine and critical care, Biewer describes her practice philosophy: “As a nurse practitioner, I strive to provide high-quality, individualized care in an environment where patients feel safe. I believe in the importance of education and being an advocate for patients and their families in times of uncertainty.”

“I’m thrilled to begin seeing patients at Riverwood in Aitkin,” Biewer adds. “I believe that cardiology care is best delivered close to home and I look forward to being a part of the team.”

Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute was formed in 1981 with the goal of providing expert clinical care, educating both the public and health care professionals and advancing the field of cardiology through research. Over the past 40-plus years, the Institute has grown to be one of the top-rated cardiovascular centers in the world, consistently recognized by US News and World Report.

Cardiology providers give compassionate guidance to help patients navigate their heart care plan and get them back to activities they enjoy. They see patients in several communities throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin, offering cardiology consultation and cardiac diagnostic services where it is most convenient for patients.
