Dr. Brandon Reynolds with Center of Excellence plaque
Dr. Brandon Reynolds, a urologist practicing at Riverwood Healthcare Center, has been designated as a Medtronic InterStimTM Center of Excellence physician. This designation is awarded to physicians with high-level training and experience with InterStim, a minimally invasive treatment for overactive bladder, a condition that causes urinary frequency, urgency and incontinence.
InterStim uses electrical pulses to the sacral nerves, which help improve the symptoms of overactive bladder. The small device is implanted in the lower back and controlled with a handheld device and a smartphone app.
The InterStim Center of Excellence program recognizes physicians who demonstrate exemplary use of the InterStim system. Exemplary is defined as a commitment to patient care for those suffering from symptoms associated with overactive bladder, fecal Incontinence and non-obstructive urinary retention.
“Bladder and bowel problems like incontinence, retention, frequency and urgency can disrupt your life and your freedom,” Dr. Brandon Reynolds said. “We can help you with life-changing therapies like InterStim. The first step to taking back control of your bladder and bowel is to make an appointment with our urology team at Riverwood. Then we will evaluate your symptoms and set up a treatment plan that works for you.”
In Minnesota, there are only three other physicians with this Center of Excellence designation, one at the Mayo Clinic and two physicians at Minnesota Urology, according to Lindsey Turner, senior InterStim therapy specialist at Medtronic.
“Dr. Reynolds is the only physician in northern Minnesota to achieve this recognition,” Turner adds. “This is a huge accomplishment, and we couldn’t be happier to work with him.”
In the United States, bowel and bladder control issues are very common. One in six adults suffers from overactive bladder symptoms. One in 12 adults suffers from bowel incontinence.
