Recently, the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services announced a list of 374 hospitals across the country that have earned a five-star rating for cleanliness, including Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin, Minn.
This report is based on patient satisfaction surveys issued and compiled by the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS), a standardized, publicly reported survey of patients’ perspectives on hospital care. Between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024, patients across the country rated their hospital experiences — and Riverwood Healthcare Center earned a 5-star rating for cleanliness based on this feedback.
Chief Operating Officer Cindi Baker comments, “We are honored to receive this top-tier cleanliness rating once again after receiving it in 2024. This achievement was made possible by the dedication and attention to detail of our Environmental Services team. Every day, this team works tirelessly to ensure that our hospital environment is not only clean, but also safe, welcoming, and comfortable for every patient, visitor and staff member.”
The survey is given to a random sample of adult patients between 2 and 42 days after discharge and includes 27 items, including cleanliness and quietness of the hospital environment. The results are published on the Care Compare website four times a year. The overall HCAHPS summary score is on a 5-star rating scale, with 4- and 5-star ratings being the best.
