We want to take a moment to recognize the critical role that our laboratory plays in patient care every single day. At Riverwood, our lab is more than a behind-the-scenes operation. It’s a vital part of how we deliver timely, accurate diagnoses and guide treatment decisions for our patients.
Recently, our laboratory took a major step forward with the installation of two VITROS XT 7600 Integrated Systems, replacing our previous analyzer and significantly enhancing our capabilities.
These state-of-the-art instruments represent the next generation in clinical chemistry and immunoassay technology. They allow for faster turnaround times and reduced hands-on maintenance. These are key improvements that benefit both our clinical teams and the patients we serve.
Together, these analyzers now process approximately 60% of our total test volume. The dual configuration offers system redundancy, ensuring continuous operations even during maintenance or unexpected downtime, which is an important advantage in supporting our 24/7 hospital care.
The upgrade also expanded our in-house test offerings. We now perform:
- Vitamin D (25-OH) testing to support evaluation of bone health, nutritional status, and endocrine function.
- Apolipoprotein B testing for more precise cardiovascular risk assessment compared to traditional lipid panels.
These additions help us deliver even more comprehensive diagnostic information to our providers and patients.
