Wellness: Just Move!

Zumba InstructorWith the trend toward lots of online communications and many automated household conveniences, many of us spend too much time sitting. That in turn promotes weight gain.

To get more active and lose some extra pounds, think in terms of moving more throughout the day. Use your break at work to take a short walk. Do three 10-minute walks if you can’t fit in a whole half hour at a time. Consider using a standing work station for computer use.

Regular exercise can improve the quality of your life in so many ways. Working out reduces the inflammation that’s associated with aging.   It boosts brain function, especially memory performance, and makes muscles healthier.

What you choose to do — biking, swimming, jogging, walking, Zumba — isn’t as important as how often you do it. Aim to exercise at least three times a week — at a level that is challenging without being exhausting — for a total of 150 minutes a week.

Remember, to feel good every day … Just Move!
