Reflux, heartburn solutions seminar

Suffering from chronic heartburn or reflux disease?  Attend a free dinner seminar to learn about advanced testing and treatment from an innovative center offering comprehensive care from a team of nationally recognized reflux specialists.

The “Solutions for Reflux and Heartburn” program will be held on Thurs., May 2, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Black Bear Casino event center in Carlton. Dr. Paul Severson, reflux specialist with the Minnesota Reflux and Heartburn Center (MRHC), will provide an overview of the latest advances in diagnostics and treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). He will discuss testing and innovative procedures available at Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin.

Established in 2015, the Minnesota Reflux and Heartburn Center offers advanced solutions for those suffering from GERD.  A staff of highly trained and experienced physicians specializing in reflux is assisted by nurses, dietitians and technicians for a team approach and smooth access to comprehensive treatment of GERD.

GERD is caused by a weak valve between the esophagus and the stomach, which allows acid, bile and stomach contents, to flow into the esophagus. This creates heartburn and can cause damage to the lining of the esophagus, which can lead to esophageal cancer.

For health care professionals, one hour of continuing education credit will be offered for this program.  Certificates will be provided at the event.

There is no cost for this program and a light meal will be served. Registration is required.  Call Riverwood at (218) 927-5188 or email healthyliving@riverwoodhealthcare.org
