Riverwood Healthcare Center welcomes Faith Nyberg, physician assistant, to its medical staff.
Nyberg has over nine years of physician assistant experience, including three years with Minnesota Gastroenterology and the past six years with Essentia Heart and Vascular in Duluth.
“Faith is working in Internal Medicine alongside Dr. Joselito Burgos and Dr. Sweety Prethish in a blended role of both hospital and clinic coverage,” says Dr. Mark Heggem, chief medical officer at Riverwood. “She brings an excellent combination of skills and experience that will enhance care for our patients, especially those with more complex and advanced health conditions.”
Graduating Summa Cum Laude, Nyberg earned her undergraduate degree from Minnesota State University, Moorhead with a double major in Biology and Chemistry with a Biotechnology emphasis and Minor in Speech Communications. She completed her master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, graduating with honors.
“In my approach to medical care, I believe two key elements for successful, high quality health care are good communication with and compassion for patients,” Nyberg explains. “One of the greatest rewards I have in practicing medicine is enabling individuals to be in charge of their health and to take steps for a happier, healthier life.”
Nyberg adds: “I have always had an interest in family medicine and feel this position will be a great opportunity to broaden my knowledge base of acute patient care in the hospital setting while doing some primary care in the clinic as well. Practicing in a smaller facility with a strong emphasis on high quality of care was very appealing too.”
Faith and her husband, Dan, grew up in the Cromwell-Wright area. With three young children, they enjoy family activities, sporting and outdoor activities, including horseback riding, biking, camping, as well as baking and playing board games.
