Riverwood Healthcare Center is partnering with the American Red Cross to host a community blood drive on September 29 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and September 30 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place in Conference Rooms C/D at Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin.
With the nation’s blood supply remaining critically low, the need for donors is more urgent than ever. Someone in the United States needs blood every two seconds, and blood donations are essential to helping patients undergoing surgery, cancer treatment, childbirth, trauma care, and other medical emergencies.
“Many patients rely on donated blood for lifesaving care,” said Carla Zupko, Chief Nursing Officer at Riverwood Healthcare Center. “Riverwood is committed to helping ensure this critical resource is available when it’s needed most. We encourage community members to consider donating blood. It’s a simple act that can make a profound difference for someone facing a serious health challenge.”
According to the American Red Cross, donors of all blood types are needed. There is a particularly urgent need for Type O negative, A negative, and B negative blood donors to help maintain a stable blood supply for hospitals and patients across the country.
Community members are encouraged to schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-733-2767 or visiting www.RedCrossBlood.org. Enter 56431 in the ZIP code search field and adjust the date range to include September to find the Riverwood blood drive.
Just one blood donation can help save more than one life, making every donor an important part of supporting patients in need.
