To prevent the spread of COVID-19, Riverwood Healthcare Center’s visitor restrictions have been extended to its clinics in Aitkin, Garrison and McGregor. Patients are asked to attend their appointments for exams or tests alone.
When a patient needs help getting escorted to a test or exam, Riverwood staff members will offer assistance. Compassionate exceptions will be made for children, OB patients and those with special needs.
For hospital patients, Riverwood activated visitor restrictions in mid-March. No children under age 18 are permitted to visit hospital patients. Exceptions for adults include the significant other of any surgery patient or critically ill or end-of-life patient.
“We know this is a difficult time for patients and their families,” said Dr. David Taylor, Riverwood’s chief medical officer. “However, the visitor restrictions are absolutely vital in protecting the health and safety of our patients, our community and our staff as the coronavirus epidemic continues to grow. We appreciate the understanding of everyone at this time.”
