Riverwood Urologist Reaches 250 InterStim™ Procedures Milestone

Dr. Brandon Reynolds, urologist at Riverwood Healthcare Center, has reached a significant professional milestone—completing his 250th InterStim™ procedure, marking years of dedication to helping patients find lasting relief from bladder and bowel control issues.

Dr. Reynolds was previously designated as a Medtronic InterStim™ Center of Excellence physician, a recognition awarded to urologists with advanced training, extensive experience, and exemplary outcomes using the InterStim system.

The InterStim™ system offers a minimally invasive treatment for overactive bladder, urinary incontinence, urinary retention, and fecal incontinence. The therapy uses mild electrical pulses to stimulate the sacral nerves, helping restore communication between the brain and bladder or bowel. The small device is implanted in the lower back and can be easily managed using a handheld controller or smartphone app.

“Bladder and bowel problems like incontinence, retention, frequency and urgency can disrupt your life and your freedom,” said Dr. Reynolds. “We can help you with life-changing therapies like InterStim. The first step to taking back control of your bladder and bowel is to make an appointment with our urology team at Riverwood. Then we’ll evaluate your symptoms and develop a treatment plan that works for you.”

According to Lindsey Turner, senior InterStim therapy specialist at Medtronic, Dr. Reynolds remains among an elite group of only five physicians in Minnesota with the Center of Excellence designation—one at Mayo Clinic, one at CentraCare, and two at Minnesota Urology.

“Dr. Reynolds is the only physician in northern Minnesota to achieve this recognition,” Turner said. “This is a huge accomplishment, and we couldn’t be happier to work with him.”

Bladder and bowel control issues are common and can significantly affect quality of life. In the United States, one in six adults suffers from symptoms of overactive bladder, and one in 12 adults experience bowel incontinence.
