Riverwood Healthcare Center’s Surgery Expansion has been named one of Finance & Commerce’s Top Projects of 2024. CEO Ken Westman accepted the award at a ceremony held July 17 at the Uptown Theater in Minneapolis. The project was completed in partnership with Kraus-Anderson, DSGW Architecture, and Northland Consulting Engineers.

Each year, Finance & Commerce recognizes outstanding developments across Minnesota that exemplify excellence in design, construction, and collaboration. The Top Projects award celebrates innovation, resilience, and the teamwork required to bring complex projects to life.

The 72,000-square-foot expansion, completed in August 2024, doubled the number of operating rooms from three to six and introduced advanced robotics and surgical technologies. The new suite also includes:

  • Two procedure rooms
  • Three endoscopy suites
  • 25 pre-op and recovery rooms
  • A post-anesthesia care unit
  • A sterile processing area
  • Dedicated outpatient clinic space for general surgery, urology, and ENT care

“We are honored to be recognized as one of Finance & Commerce’s Top Projects of 2024,” said CEO Ken Westman. “This recognition is a testament to the incredible teamwork and vision behind this project. We’re proud to expand access to high-quality surgical care in our region.”
