Marie Nelson, MD, OB/GYN
Brainerd Lakes native Marie Nelson, M.D., an obstetrician/gynecologist, will begin treating patients at Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin. She will also see patients at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center clinics in Baxter and Crosby.
Dr. Nelson joins Drs. Michael and Rachel Cady, Dr. Christina Kramer and Dr. Leigh Bauer in offering a full range of obstetric and gynecological care including labor and delivery, minimally invasive surgery and wellness exams.
Returning to Minnesota after completing a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Creighton University Medical Center and Affiliated Hospitals in Omaha, Neb., Dr. Nelson earned her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis and Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.
“Dr. Nelson brings additional expertise in advanced obstetrics and gynecology to help us better serve women’s health needs from the child-bearing years through menopause and beyond,” says Dr. Michael Cady. “Now with five OB/GYNs we will be able to offer fast and convenient access in the Aitkin area and surrounding communities.”
Dr. Nelson worked as a summer intern at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Brainerd Medical Center. She also served as a chemistry tutor and resident assistant at Notre Dame. She and her husband, Steve, have a three-year-old daughter.
