Leigh Bauer, DO, OB/GYN physician
Dr. Leigh Bauer, obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) physician, joined the specialty care medical staff atRiverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin in October.
Bauer joins Drs. Michael and Rachel Cady in offering a full range of obstetric and gynecological care including labor and delivery, minimally invasive surgery and wellness exams.
“We are pleased to have Dr. Bauer join our medical staff at Riverwood,” commented Dr. Mark Heggem, Chief Medical Officer. “She provides our patients with additional obstetric and gynecologic care options.”
With a special interest in guiding women through the journeys of pregnancy and childbirth, Bauer provides one more practitioner option among an experienced OB team of doctors and nurse practitioners at Riverwood. Led by Dr. Don Hughes, OB medical director, the OB team now includes Dr. Tim Arnold, Dr. Jeff Ehnstrom and Dr. Jessica Hodson, plus Dr. Bauer and Drs. Michael and Rachel Cady–all offering pregnancy care through birth and delivery. In addition, Dr. Janelle Trueblood and nurse practitioners Jennifer Burgos, Lisa Gerhart, and Janet Larson offer prenatal care during the first two trimesters of pregnancy.
“I have already had the pleasure of working with some of the OB team, including Riverwood doctors and nurses, in the newly designed birthing suites and am truly impressed by the compassionate care offered here,” says Dr. Bauer. “The new birthing suites offer a serene atmosphere for bringing a new baby into the world. I am looking forward to becoming more involved in the Riverwood Healthcare OB program as well as taking care of women seeking gynecological care.”
Bauer completed her residency at Sisters of Charity in Buffalo, NY. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of St. Thomas where she graduated Cum Laude and earned her degree as a Doctor of Osteopathy from Des Moines University in 2008.
Leigh Bauer and her husband, Jordan, were excited to return toMinnesotawhere they were both born and grew up. They are looking forward to raising their own family inMinnesota, especially since they both have family members in the area.
