Getting vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself and others from serious illness. The flu vaccine helps reduce the risk of severe complications like pneumonia, hospitalization, and even death. The same goes for the COVID-19 vaccine.
Riverwood Healthcare Center is offering flu and COVID-19 vaccines to the public by appointment at the following community clinic locations and times:
Aitkin Clinic: Thursdays, Oct. 9, 16, 23 and 30, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Garrison Clinic: Tuesdays, Oct. 7 and 21, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
McGregor Clinic: Wednesdays, Oct. 8, 15 and 22, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
To schedule your flu or COVID-19 shot, call Riverwood for an appointment at 218-927-2157. Be sure to have your health insurance information ready. You can also view the full vaccine clinic schedule at www.RiverwoodHealthcare.org.
Vaccines will also be available during scheduled primary care visits this fall for patients and their significant others. After the community clinic dates, you can still receive a flu or COVID-19 vaccination by scheduling a nurse visit at any Riverwood clinic.
Riverwood will offer the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine during both clinic and nurse visits, and alongside the flu vaccine at community clinics. In addition, all three Riverwood retail pharmacies in Aitkin, Garrison, and McGregor will offer COVID-19 vaccines this fall.

Flu outbreaks in Minnesota typically occur between December and April. It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop, so early protection is key.
For older adults and those with weakened immune systems, the response to vaccines may be slower or less robust—but vaccination still offers important protection.
