For Sheena and her five-year-old daughter, Alice, finding the right speech therapist made all the difference.

Alice was born with microcephaly and is very petite for her age. Speech had been a challenge, and expressing herself verbally was often frustrating. But with Amanda’s patient, personalized approach, Alice began making remarkable progress.
“After searching for the right therapy program, we finally found the perfect fit at Riverwood,” Sheena said. “My daughter succeeded. She talks so much now. Before, she struggled to express herself, and now we can understand her. She’s still working on certain sounds and expressions, but therapy has truly changed her life.”
Sheena credits much of Alice’s success to Amanda’s ability to tailor therapy sessions to her daughter’s needs.
“Amanda kept Alice focused and engaged. She made activities easy to understand, kept them short, and knew exactly how to hold her attention.”
Although the family travels from Brainerd for appointments, Sheena says the drive is well worth it.
“Riverwood is absolutely worth the drive. Amanda gave Alice the care she needed, and we’ve seen such an incredible difference.”
Today, Alice continues to build her communication skills and confidence, supported by a therapist who understands how to bring out her very best.
