Dr. Andrew Loveitt is a Board Certified General Surgeon with Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin. He is accredited by the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. In 2018, he completed a fellowship in Advanced Gastrointestinal, Bariatric and Endoscopic Surgery at the Minnesota Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIMIS). In 2020, he was named a Surgeon of Excellence in Robotic Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation.
As the medical director of the Hernia Specialists of Minnesota, Dr. Loveitt continually advances his expertise in hernia repair. He is a member of the American Hernia Society and regularly attends hernia-specific educational conferences. His interests in hernia repair include alternatives to traditional plastic mesh, robotic repair, and reconstruction of large abdominal wall hernias. Additionally, Dr. Loveitt trains other surgeons in robotic-assisted hernia repair techniques as a proctor.
Dr. Loveitt is also a reflux specialist and serves as the medical director of the Minnesota Reflux and Heartburn Center at Riverwood Healthcare Center. This comprehensive, patient-centered initiative offers solutions for patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), heartburn, or esophageal symptoms. Dr. Loveitt performs a full range of surgeries for treating GERD, including Fundoplication, Stretta, Gastroparesis, Nissen, Toupet, DOR, GPOEM, LINX, and TIF.
Originally from Gorham, Maine, Dr. Loveitt earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine, and his Bachelor of Science degree from Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. He completed his General Surgery Residency at Rowan University in Stratford, New Jersey, and has received numerous academic awards. Outside of work, Dr. Loveitt enjoys outdoor activities such as boating, skiing, and cycling.
