If you are suffering from chronic heartburn or acid reflux or have been diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and struggling to control your symptoms with dietary and lifestyle changes and medicine, help is available close to home.
Attend a virtual live stream presentation by Dr. Andrew Loveitt on Tues., May 31, at 5:30 p.m. Participants will learn about GERD and its silent symptoms, potential long-term effects of proton pump inhibitor use, new treatment options, procedures and recovery. They will also be able to ask Dr. Loveitt any questions, including how GERD sufferers can manage their symptoms.
Dr. Loveitt will offer information on the TIF procedure, which is the only treatment solution that effectively treats acid reflux without incisions or metal implants.

An estimated one in five adults in the United States experiences acid reflux or GERD, a chronic reflux condition that can include troublesome symptoms like heartburn, regurgitation of food/liquid and difficulty swallowing. These symptoms can happen when the flap or valve (lower esophageal sphincter) between the stomach and esophagus isn’t working properly to keep consumed food contents in the stomach.
Dr. Loveitt, a board-certified general surgeon, is a specialist at the Minnesota Reflux and Heartburn Center and is available for patient appointments at Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin. Patients may be referred by their primary care physician or seek more information by contacting Dawn Harcey, RN, Clinical GI Coordinator, at 218-429-3930.
