Golf for a cause, support hospice care

HospiceEventLogo2014Riverwood Healthcare Center and Riverwood Foundation are hosting Holes fore Hospice, a charity event golf tournament and lunch, on Sun., July 10, at Ruttger’s Bay Lake Lodge near Deerwood.

The Lakes, an 18-hole challenging, championship course designed by the brilliant architect Joel Goldstrand, was expertly carved out of rugged terrain, engulfing two natural lakes and featuring additional water features on a majority of the holes.

Holes fore Hospice is an annual fundraising event that supports hospice care and palliative programming for patients and families who are facing terminal illness. Providing quality end-of-life care is an essential, meaningful and highly emotional component of a hospice program. The ultimate goal of hospice care is to offer support and care to maximize independence and comfort during the end-of-life stage.

“This annual charity event does a terrific job of raising funds for local hospice care,” says Katie Nelson, Riverwood Foundation Director.  “For participants, this is an opportunity to support a cause you care about while pursuing a sport you enjoy. For sponsors, this is a great way to get your business or organization name in front of many people in support of a wonderful community health service that benefits so many.”

Nelson adds: “We are excited to present on the new Stories section of our website two hospice stories from local residents that demonstrate the tremendous impact hospice care has on both patients and family members.”
