Riverwood announces chief medical officer

Riverwood Healthcare Center is pleased to announce the selection of Dr. David Taylor to be Riverwood Healthcare Center’s next chief medical officer.

Dr. Taylor, who has worked as an emergency care physician at Riverwood since 2007, will continue in this role while taking on the chief medical officer role and serving on Riverwood’s senior leadership team.

“We are so pleased with Dr. Taylor’s passion and desire to serve in this important leadership role for Riverwood,” said Riverwood CEO Todd Sandberg.   “We value the perspective that Dr. Taylor, on behalf of all of our medical practitioners, will bring to our leadership team.”

Dr. Taylor grew up in Waverly, Iowa, and received his medical degree from the University of Iowa Medical School in 1997. He holds a B.A. degree in Biology from Wartburg College. He completed a Family Practice residency at St. Luke’s Medical Center and St. Mary’s Duluth Clinic and practiced as a family physician for Superior Health Group in Duluth for several years before joining the Riverwood medical staff.

“I am very excited to move into the new role of Chief Medical Officer for Riverwood Healthcare Center.,” said Dr. Taylor.  “The hospital has provided me with wonderful opportunities to provide emergency care for patients and I am honored to have the chance to serve the Riverwood community further in a new leadership capacity.”

Completing fellowship training in Sports Medicine in Indianapolis, Dr. Taylor served as a physician for the Indianapolis Colts Training Camp in 2004. Previously, he served as a medical interviewer for the National Football League Combine and as a physician for the U.S. Ski Nordic Ski Team.

Dr. Taylor and his wife, Amanda Nelson, are proud parents of a son, Jackson William Taylor, born in early December.  They split their time between Aitkin and Duluth.
