Riverwood Healthcare Center is pleased to welcome Monica Bostrom, registered physical therapist, to its rehabilitation team.
“Monica’s 19 years of experience primarily with an elderly patient population is a huge plus,” says Jean Chouanard, rehabilitation department manager. “She brings a lot of great expertise in working with stroke patients and those with complex rehabilitation needs.”
Bostrom does outpatient therapy at Riverwood and has specialized training in the treatment of neurological and dizziness and balance disorders. Previously, she worked at the Good Samaritan Society-Bethany long-term care facility in Brainerd for 17 years and at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center for two years.
“I love working with geriatric patients,” Bostrom says. “It’s great to see them get their mobility back and return to doing the activities they enjoy. I like to think of ‘PT’ as ‘precious time’.”
Bostrom holds a master’s degree in physical therapy from the College of St. Scholastica, Duluth. She also completed her bachelor of science degree at St. Scholastica with a major in health science and in Native American Indian Studies.
A resident of the Brainerd area for many years, Bostrom enjoys playing saxophone. This fall will be her ninth year playing in the band for the “Geritol Frolics” performed in Brainerd.
