Family Nurse Practitioner Lisa Gerhart
Riverwood Healthcare Center welcomes Lisa Gerhart, family nurse practitioner, who has been seeing patients at Riverwood clinics since last fall as she completed her nurse practitioner training.
Gerhart brings more than five years of experience as a registered nurse and charge nurse for medical/surgical patients prior to obtaining her family nurse practitioner certification. She also served as a nursing clinical instructor for three years. She received both her bachelor of science degree in nursing and her doctorate degree (doctor of nursing practice) as a family nurse practitioner from North Dakota State University in Fargo.
“We are excited to welcome Lisa to our family practice medical staff,” says Barb Fulton, manager of clinic and outpatient services. “Lisa brings to Riverwood a strong background of direct nursing care, leadership and management experience as a charge nurse, educator and mentor. “
Lisa will be working closely with other Riverwood providers in Garrison as part of a collaborative team. Over the past few weeks, she has been spending time in the Garrison clinic getting very familiar with the staff and many of the patients.
Gerhart will see patients primarily at Riverwood’s Garrison clinic but also at the Aitkin clinic. Her professional interests include women’s health, early obstetric care, pediatrics and adolescent health.
“Riverwood is small enough to get to know the patients and their families on a more personal level, but large enough to offer numerous specialties to its patients,” Gerhart says. “I believe family-centered care is important. Healthy lifestyle choices like a nutritious diet and exercising regularly are easier to sustain when the whole family participates.”
Gerhart grew up in Perham, a small town in northwestern Minnesota in the heart of the lakes area. She recently moved to Aitkin area with her husband, David. In her leisure time, she enjoys reading, cooking and baking, running, gardening and fishing.
