McGregor Community Health and Wellness Fair

Treat yourself to a fun way to support your health on Wed., Sept. 26, 3-6 pm.

With the feel of fall in the air and all the back-to-school hoopla, we start adjusting our schedules to include the everyday and, sometime, more important issues of our lives, our health and well-being. Put September 26th on your calendar to attend the second annual Community Health and Wellness Fair at the McGregor Community Center and Pavilion, just north of the intersection of Highways 210 and 65.

With about 40 vendors plus a farmers market, there is something for everyone from toddler to senior. Many of last year’s vendors are returning, plus a variety of new faces. There will be time to visit with  all the organizations displaying their services.

This truly is a community event. This year’s committee is chaired by Cheryl Backowski, Lions member; with help from Gayleen Touhey, McGregor Area Angels; Mary Ann Kult, Thrivent Financial; Liz Dean, Riverwood Healthcare; Hannah Colby and Brea Hamdorf, Aitkin County Public Health; and Lisa Kruse, McGregor Community Education.

Sponsors for this year’s event include Riverwood Healthcare, McGregor Community Education, McGregor Lions, McGregor Area ANGELS, Aitkin County Public Health and Thrivent Financial.

Aitkin County Public Health will provide flu shots and other vendors will provide support, prevention and screening services. Attendees will receive a punch card for vendors to stamp; when participants have visited all booths, they will be entered into a drawing for door prizes.

Two grand prizes include a kid’s bicycle donated by Aitkin Hardware Hank and a beautiful handmade quilt from Grace Lutheran Church, plus several other valuable gifts.
