Riverwood Healthcare Center is pleased to announce the hiring of Todd Sandberg as chief executive officer. He will join Riverwood on June 18, 2018.
Sandberg brings more than 20 years of health care leadership experience, including a broad range of responsibilities. He most recently served as the vice president, Regional Operations for Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia, Minn.; and primarily as the vice president/administrator for Ridgeview Sibley Medical Center and providing other leadership oversight for the organization.
Prior to Sandberg’s current role, he served as the chief executive officer for Elkhorn Valley Rehabilitation Hospital in Casper, Wyo. He has an additional decade of experience leading various hospital programs and another 10 years of clinical experience, working as an exercise specialist with cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation patients.
“Todd has the leadership and relationship skills, along with a passion for health care, which we believe are needed to continue propelling Riverwood Healthcare Center into the future,” said Chad Gross, Riverwood board chair. “He brings experience in quality improvement, community engagement and team building, including a commitment to building strong relationships with physicians and the medical staff. We are pleased to have a professional with Sandberg’s impressive background joining our team.”
Sandberg looks forward to taking on his new role leading Riverwood’s integrated clinic and hospital organization.
“I’m most excited to join the Riverwood family to support and continue the team commitment of providing high quality care and great outcomes to the residents of the region,” Sandberg said. “My family and I are looking forward to calling the Aitkin area home. I spent many weekends of my youth fishing and hunting in the area or swimming at a family cabin on Lone Lake.”
Sandberg holds a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management degree from Regis University in Denver, Colo., and a Master of Science degree in Cardiac Rehabilitation and Exercise Science from East Stroudsburg University, East Stroudsburg, Penn. A member of the Minnesota Hospital Association–Small, Rural Hospital Committee, he is also the current president and a board member of Medi-Sota Inc.
In his free time, Sandberg enjoys fishing, golfing, music, and traveling. He and his wife, Christy, have two children. Their son, Brennen, is completing his junior year of high school and freshman year of college online through the PSEO program at the University of Northwestern. Their daughter, Kindrid, enjoys music and drama and will be starting ninth grade in the fall. Christy enjoys hiking, camping, and reading, and she does some editing on the side. The whole family is looking forward to becoming part of the Aitkin community.
