After working as an OB nurse at the hospital in Aitkin for three years, AlannaTibbetts knew firsthand that choosing Riverwood for prenatal care and delivery of her first baby was a great option. She and Dan Fischer explain why they had a great “first baby” experience. “This was such an exciting time in our lives and everyone at Riverwood made us feel that way.
We loved the personal care that Dr. Don Hughes provided us through pregnancy and the birth of our baby boy, Gavin. Dr. Hughes was always available if we had questions and explained in detail our next steps and what to expect in the upcoming weeks during pregnancy. His nurses were very helpful and made us feel comfortable as well.
The Riverwood birthing suite rooms are beautiful and spacious. The best part of our laboring and birthing experiencing was the amazing support we received from the whole team—doctors, nurses, nursing assistants and other staff.
The OB nurses truly work hard to make you comfortable and the entire birthing process a positive one. They provided us with many options for laboring such as using the exercise ball, walking throughout the hallways with the wireless monitors on, and the large jetted tub. They also encouraged baby-friendly practices like skin-to-skin time following birth, breastfeeding, and rooming in with the baby.
We felt very well taken care of, which is so important for both the mother and father. We were reassured to know that we were not alone, even after leaving the hospital.”
