Did you know that family history, sedentary lifestyle or questionable meal planning can all put you at risk for diabetes? If your healthcare provider has expressed concern about weight gain or an increase in your blood glucose (sugar) level, that’s another sign that you may be heading toward a diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes.

The good news is that Riverwood Healthcare offers the National Diabetes Prevention Program that helps individuals learn what they can do to prevent diabetes. This community-based, lifestyle change program offers diabetes prevention education for people with pre-diabetes or who are at risk for Type 2 Diabetes.

The next 16-week class series will be offered on Mondays, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., June 5 through October 2, at Riverwood’s Diabetes Center in Aitkin. The series also includes eight monthly classes to be scheduled after core class completion. This program is offered free of charge.

Meeting with a trained Riverwood instructor, learn how to create a healthier lifestyle and prevent diabetes. Participants will get information on how to lose weight, eat healthier and increase physical activity.

Space is limited and registration required. To register for this program or if you have questions, contact the Riverwood Diabetes Center at (218) 927-8281.
